SAUCE ON fried mozzarella sticks • pizza crust • french fries
Ingredients
1 can whole tomatoes (27oz)
1 yellow onion
3/4 cup white vinegar
1 red bell pepper
6 garlic cloves
1 jar piquillo peppers in brine
1 tbsp fennel seed
1 tbsp oregano dried
1 tbsp basil dried
6 chile de arbol
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp salt
Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. On a sheet pan add chopped red bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Toss with olive oil and salt. Roast for 20min.

To a spice grinder, add fennel seed, oregano, basil, and crushed red pepper flake. Grind into a powder. If no spice grinder available, just add all spices to blender before blending sauce.

Into a blender add roasted onion, red bell pepper, garlic, chile de arbol, spice blend (oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, fennel seed), piquillo peppers, whole peeled tomatoes and salt. Blend for 1 minute until smooth.
